[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Chōsokabe Motochika, The Demon of Shikoku, The Demon of Onigashima, The Demon of the Western Sea, Aniki
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Fandom: Sengoku Basara the anime
Timeline: The end of season 2.
History: Although this only seems to cover the first season.
Stalemate between him and Mori: Mori had constantly taken down anyone who came to invade Aki, and had positioned himself as the ruler of all neighbouring areas. Before Oda Nobunaga, he only had to pay attention to the actions of Chosokabe Motochika, who united Shikoku. The situation changed with the Demon Lord of Owari’s presence as he would eventually come to invade. Mori is someone who doesn’t invade other territories and is only out to defend Aki. Motochika is the only one in the area who could be a serious threat to him.
Ep 13: Maeda Keiji manages to convince him to work with his eternal rival to fight against Oda. This is done by arranging to meet on the pretence that they are going to swap prisoners. It doesn’t go well, and Mori orders his own men killed and decides to fight and try to steal Fugaku, his big fortress ship thing. He goes crazy because ‘OMG You just killed your own men who cared about you!’, big epic and shounen fight ensues until Keiji appears out of nowhere and stops the fight. Something happens and they agree to a ceasefire until after they all help out everyone in taking down Oda Nobunaga.
Season 2: Off to conquer Japan, but then Mori invades so he goes off to defend his land, is ambushed by Hideyoshi. Somehow Hideyoshi’s fist parts the seas and allows his men to fight Fugaku on land. Gets his ass handed to him by the giant monkey and his ship is destroyed by the returning water that got displaced earlier.
Appears out of nowhere later and tries to steal Date’s horses to go and get revenge. Fights Date then suddenly an agreement to work together. Turns out they’re pretty similar; they come up with the exact same plan with the only difference being that they put the other as the bait. Now the two of them are a fairly volatile combination and the only thing that prevented them from fighting again was the appearance of Matsunaga Hisahide. That guy had something that belonged to Kojuurou so Date wanted to go after him and was about to give Motochika control over his men, but luckily he had his own score to settle with him. So they all go after the guy, and get blown up for their troubles and to make things worse, it turns out he was just a diversion to weaken their forces. Hisahide is a douche and doesn’t take orders very well so he just went away in the middle of things after he got what he wanted, idek. Kojuurou returns and tells Motochika about his men who were captured and are currently running rampant in an attempt to avenge the guy. So he leaves kicking Hideyoshi’s ass to Date and goes off to save his men, like the good aniki he is.
Fastforward the whole battle and at the end he is shown with Fugaku the second, or whatever he’s called it this time off to conquer the country again.
Character Personality: Motochika is a pirate and acts much like how you'd expect one to be. Loud, cocky and abrasive. He could care less what you think of him as long as you acknowledge his abilities. He's very much forward and blunt, Motochika sees no point in beating around the bush. Although he is a pirate it is interesting to note that he puts great emphasis on fairness. He would never stoop to tricks no matter how dire things may get. Any battle with him is guaranteed to be fair.
For all his pirate ways, spend some time with him and you realise what a great guy he is. Keiji even said that Motochika was the nicest guy he's ever met. There's a reason why he inspires extreme loyalty in his men, going so far as to risk their lives to avenge him when they believed him dead. He isn't one to compromise unless the situation is particularly dire and even then it would only be to protect those under him. The only alliance he is seen making is with Date and that was temporary and brief, born of circumstance and when he joined in the final battle against Oda Nobunaga, which was arguably a necessity. You can't say you've conquered Hi-no-moto when haven't beaten everyone to get there.
He's normally fairly easy to get along with, but there is one thing that never fails to get him worked up, disregarding the lives of your friends and allies. Friendships and the bonds formed between people is the most important thing to him. He couldn't believe it when Mori Motonari callously had his own spies killed because they dared to talk back to him. For him, that kind of act is unthinkable.
Character Abilities: Motochika is great with machines, and is considered one of the best of his time (in the Sengoku era that is). But considering that he designed Fugaku, a giant floating fortress it is clear that he was way ahead of his time. So while it may not be apparently immediately, after giving him some time to adjust to the changes of the future be able to show off his abilities. Even taking away his lack of understanding in how things in the present work, his engineering abilities are good enough to be able to be used.
He is extremely fit and strong, from his lifestyle as a pirate leader and his weapon, which is a giant anchor spear/staff thing which he can wield with one hand. He's also been seen running on water and cliffs, and considering that the show is set in the real world, one would assume that is part of his normal abilities. Since he's also shown 'surfing' on his weapon, it's clear that he has some insane balancing abilities. Motochika spends most of his time at sea, so he's a great sailor. His fighting style favours strength over speed, for example Fugaku is a giant tank in boat form. It exists so he can just overpower his enemies.
Motochika is a born leader. For a group of pirates, his men are exceptionally well disciplined. He inspires loyalty in others and he's fairly charismatic. He's pretty well versed in the ways of diplomacy, but whether he uses that knowledge is another.
Character Weaknesses: He's missing his left eye. While he's learnt how to compensate for it, it's not perfect and he obviously can't see things on his left properly. An experienced combatant should be able to use this to their advantage.
While his loyalty to his men is a one of his strengths, it is also his greatest weakness. He's willing to do anything for those he cares about and it is something that people have taken advantage of. Motochika knows that people use this against him, yet he refuses to see this as a problem. He finds it impossible to turn people away. When Hideyoshi and Mori's actions were causing people to be displaced, Motochika accepted them all into his lands without a second thought, even though doing so would put a strain on his resources. He knew that this would put him in a difficult position, but still did it with the belief that he would be able to protect everyone.
It's also fairly easy for others to gain his trust. He's willing to give others the benefit of the doubt even when he has cause to be suspicious. For example, while his own spies were easily caught by Mori, the spies in his own midst would have been left unknown if it hadn't been for Maeda Keiji.
[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Meister: Motochika would be the best Meister ever. He's had experience in leading others and for him, the bonds between people are one of the most important things. He would be considerate towards his partners feelings and everything he did would be done with them in his thoughts. Once he's taken someone under his wing, he'll do everything he can to protect them. He wouldn't be one of those people who forget that the Weapon they are using is an actual person and get annoyed with their partner when things aren't going well. I'M LOOKING AT YOU HERE DATE, SMASHING DANTE ON THE GROUND AND YOU VERGIL, GETTING HUFFY WHEN GENESIS WAS UPSET.
Meister Ability: Soul Leader
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: No particular order yet: Resolute, brash, self-reliant, intense, independent, considerate.
Soul Appearance: His soul is a light purple with a brown-purple eye-patch over the left eye. Instead of a tail thing, it has wild spiky 'hair' and a perpetual grin on it's face. There's a chain loosely wrapped around it with an anchor at one end.
[ NOTES ]
Aniki is very cool.
